Ajay Devgan’s ‘Red 2’ makes a strong inauguration, but the box office declines in 2 days

New Delhi: Ajay Devgan’s 2018 smash hits, a highly awaited sequel to ‘Red 2’, marks his return to the big screen after a brilliant performance of ‘Azad’ earlier this year. There were high expectations for the sequel, but since its premiere, ‘RAID 2’ has received mixed reviews, and its box office performance reflects the reception of this lukewarm.

‘Chhap 2’ Box Office Collection Day 2

With an impressive early day of Rs 19.25 crore, ‘Red 2’ left for a strong start, leaving the inauguration of the previous film behind about Rs 9 crore. On the other hand, the crime thriller earned in two days, which fell to Rs 11.75 crore, a decrease of about 38.96%. It increased the total domestic collection of the film from two days to Rs 31 crore, according to the initial estimates of the industry tracker second.

The film’s financial performance is reminiscent of Ajay Devgan’s 2024 multi-starrer ‘Singham Again’, which almost broke even after opening a report of Rs 375 million, but fell to Rs 42.5 crore and Rs 35.75 crore on day 2, eventually earning Rs 372.4 crore.

The ‘Red 2’ had a 19.23% medium crowd acquisition percentage on Friday, with 4711 shows open for the film at the national level. By Saturday, the film had lost about 150 shows, and the second day, it fell by 4843. Chennai performed well, with an excellent 48% occupancy rate, while Surat had the lowest appearance, only 13% with the participation of the audience, according to the data given by Sacnilk.

A release of May 1, which is competing with ‘Red 2’ at the box office, was Sanjay Dutt’s horror comedy ‘The Bhootni’, although it was much less successful than ‘Red 2’.
