Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are set to play super agents in Yash Raj Films’ next spy universe film “Alpha”, the makers announced on Friday.
Touted to be the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe, the film will be directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously directed the banner’s Netflix series “The Railway Men”.
With ‘Alpha’, the actor will join the spy world, which already boasts blockbusters like ‘Pathan’ as well as the ‘Tiger’ and ‘War’ franchises.
There were reports that Alia and Sharvari will play the lead roles in the female-led spy film produced by Aditya Chopra of YRF.
In the title reveal video, Alia can be heard saying, “The very first letter of the Greek alphabet. And the motto of our show.. First, Fastest, Bravest. If you look carefully, there is a jungle in every city. And in the jungle, the Alpha will always rule..” The YRF Spy Universe began in 2012 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer “Ek Tha Tiger”. Its success was followed by the release of two sequels “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017) and “Tiger 3” (2023).
Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s “War” released in 2019, followed by “Pathan” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in 2023.
Apart from ‘Alpha’, ‘War 2’ starring Hrithik and NTR Jr, ‘Pathan 2’ with Shah Rukh and ‘Tiger vs Pathan’ starring Salman and Shah Rukh are also in the banner’s pipeline.
