Another deepfake video of Alia Bhatt has gone viral, the second one this year that has left her fans angry. The video, which garnered over 17 million views on Instagram before being deleted, shows Bhatt participating in the GRWM (Get Ready With Me) trend.
In a video posted by a user named Sameeksha Avatar, “Alia” is seen getting ready in a black kurta, applying makeup and posing for the camera.
Opinion: Dealing with deepfakes
Earlier in May, Bhatt’s face was superimposed on actress Vamika Gabbi in another deepfake video. The video, which also went viral on social media, showed her in a floral co-ord set, mimicking her voice and gestures while pointing at the camera.

The frequent emergence of deepfake videos has already raised concerns about the misuse of AI and the implications for digital security and privacy. In a similar case last year, the Delhi Police had identified suspects responsible for creating and sharing a deepfake video of actress Rashmika Mandanna.
In that case, a woman named Zara Patel was seen in a lift, and her face was changed to look like Mandana’s using AI. The Delhi Commission for Women intervened, following which the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit of the Delhi Police filed an FIR.
