Romanian basketball player Robert Bobrowski was cast to play a new character called The Offspring in a horror-action sequence in Alien: Romulus.
Filmmaker Fede Alvarez took the CGI-based Alien franchise to another level in the latest installment of the sci-fi-horror film. While Ridley Scott was known for his amazing VFX in the original 1979 series, Fede used a real-life 7 feet 7 inches tall human giant for a crucial scene in Alien: Romulus. Robert stands at a height of 7 feet 7 inches, making him one of the tallest men on earth. His impressive presence mesmerized the audience in the theatres. A behind the scenes clip of the athlete-turned-actor interacting with the crew before an action sequence went viral.
Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “This is awesome. Definitely has hip and spine dysmorphia but it’s put to great use! Miss the reality of filmmaking!” Another user commented, “This guy in crazy (and scary) full makeup/costume casually talking to the production crew is making me die.” A fan wrote, “I hate CGI so I appreciate this.” Another fan wrote, “Enjoyed this movie!”

Daniel Macarine, the film’s visual effects supervisor Interview with Variety saying, “The way it’s described, you’re trying to picture it in your mind, and you don’t know how the director is going to make this character. Is it going to look like a xenomorph? Is it going to be something very unique? Is it going to be something we’ve never seen before? We’ve seen the plates for the first time, and it’s a 7-foot-tall creature.” [tall] The actors there, in their costumes. It was scary. They did such a great job with the look and feel of that character that we knew anything we could bring to that was going to help.”

Alien: Romulus is co-written by Fede and Rodo Sayagues. It is the seventh installment in the Alien franchise, set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearon and Aileen Wu in pivotal roles. The science-fiction horror-thriller is co-produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruess and Walter Hill.
Alien: Romulus is released worldwide on August 16 by 20th Century Studios.
