Controversy around Sunny Deol’s latest release, JatPunjab continues to move forward as members of the Christian community, with a strong objection to some scenes in the film.
Alleging that the film “insults his faith and religious practices”, the protesters have demanded a ban on the film and took legal action against their producers and actors. The case has now reached the police, and an FIR has been registered in Jalandhar.
What about the dispute?
On Thursday night, Punjab Police along with Bollywood actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh along with director Gopichand and producer Naveen Malineni registered an FIR.
The case filed at Sadar Police Station in Jalandhar calls for Section 299 of the Joint Code of India (BNS), which is “deliberately and related to malicious acts that is to offend religious sentiments.”
This development comes after raising objections on the scenes of members of the Christian community JatThose who allege that Jesus Christ and Christians are derogatory to religious traditions. Protests, memorandums and 48 -hour ultimatum placed the film at the center of a religious and political storm.
The scene that gave rise to controversy

How has the Christian community responded?
In Punjab, especially in Jalandhar, members of the Christian community gathered rapidly. A formal complaint was first submitted to the Jalandhar Commission Police. Vikal Goldie, a prominent community leader, called the film “attack on Christian Faith” and warned of social disturbance if action was not taken.
Outside theaters, videos of protesters chanting slogans like “Randeep Hooda Murdabad” started roaming on social media. While the initial plans included massive protests outside the screening of the film, the police intervened to stop public protests.
Instead, the community representatives presented a memorandum to the Joint Police Commissioner. Their demands include: ban on dramatic screening JatLegal action against the film’s actors and crew and removing the views considered aggressive from all platforms.
The community also issued a 48 -hour ultimatum to the authorities, if no action is taken, a warning of public opposition.
Police action so far
Station House Officer Sanjeev Kumar confirmed the Indian Express that an FIR was lodged after internal review of the complaint. He said that an inquiry is currently going on and further action will be taken based on its findings.
In particular, the FIR has been filed against several top names associated with the film, including Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, although no arrests have been made until Friday morning.

However, if a restriction or censorship is implemented, the Brouning dispute may affect its future prospects.
