Mumbai: Intimacy co-ordinator Naina Bhaan is celebrating the historic win of Payal Kapadia-directed ‘All We Imagine As Light’ at the recently concluded 77th Cannes Film Festival.
‘All We Imagine As Light’ was awarded the ‘Le Grand Prix’ award at the film festival. On Sunday, Naina shared several pictures from the film and behind the scenes on her Instagram. She also wrote a long note in the caption, in which she described the film’s win as an “emotional victory”.
She wrote: “Payal Kapadia’s film All We Imagine As Light has recently won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Grand Prix. What an emotional win. As an intimacy coordinator, I am grateful to be a part of this Indian film that has made history. Thank you Divya and Hridu for being so vulnerable and creating absolute magic. Being on set with the team reminded me why I got into filmmaking in the first place.”
Naina’s act forms a crucial aspect of the film’s plot during the climactic love-making scene. The scene is shot in the forests of Ratnagiri, with Divya Prabha playing a Hindu woman whose parents keep sending her marriage proposals from Kerala, and Hridu Hussain, whose character is that of a young Muslim man who works in the hospital where his girlfriend works as a nurse.
Naina said that every member of the cast and crew of the film was completely engrossed in working together to create this gem.
Naina has previously worked as an intimacy coordinator in Ashim Ahluwalia’s streaming series ‘Class’, which was adapted from the Spanish series ‘Elite’.
She further explained: “When I studied and got certified for Intimacy Coordination after ‘Class’, the aim was to be able to create safe sets and honest Indian portrayals of intimacy. It meant a lot to me that Payal and the whole team were keen to include an IC, and they gave me so much space and respect to create.”
Naina further added, “Thank you @zicdrop @ohshitharshit for always being there for me and thinking about me. Thank you for everything. PS this is the best picture my friend @tanmaydhanania got from Rolling Credits and I appreciate it.”
