In a heartbreaking incident during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad on December 4, a stampede took the life of a female fan and her son was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. Actor Allu Arjun, who attended the event with his family, expressed his condolences with a heartfelt caption in a 3 minute 47 second video shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“Deeply saddened by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to reassure them that they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally,” he wrote, adding his commitment to support the bereaved family.
Arjun’s emotional message
Speaking in Telugu, Arjun described the crowd at the theater as “unexpected” and revealed that he learned about the tragic incident only the next morning. “We learned that Revathi, a mother of two, died unfortunately. This is shocking and extremely sad. We make films for people’s enjoyment and something like this is destructive. “None of us feel like celebrating,” he said.

Financial Aid and Future Support
Arjun announced a donation of ₹25 lakh to Revathi’s family as a gesture of support, emphasizing his commitment to helping children and covering medical expenses. “Nothing we do can compensate for the loss, but we are here for you emotionally. From my part, I will take care of the needs of the children as much as possible,” he assured.
The actor urged fans to prioritize safety, saying, “We make films so that you can enjoy them with your family. Please take care and return home safely from theatres.
Case against Allu Arjun
The tragedy prompted the police to register a case against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theater management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) based on a complaint by Revathi’s family. Telangana Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy announced a ban on benefit shows across the state to prevent such incidents in future.
Pushpa 2 producers, Mythri Movie Makers and actress Rashmika Mandanna expressed their grief over the tragedy. Meanwhile, Arjun’s team confirmed that producer Bunny Vaas has already reached out to Revathi’s family and is offering financial support on behalf of the actor.
