Chennai is experiencing a rare week of summer rain. It takes the smell of mud mixed with humid, humid, and sea air through the city. Such moments are counted. They say some hot tea, for a balcony, with uninterrupted scenes of rude horizon, and soak barefoot in rainwater puddle. Chennai-based independent composer Alvin Presley’s voice swims between acoustic tunes and soft collisions, never reinforce the rain-patel-patter, bringing together in the evening.
“I call myself ‘style-fluid’ composer. Deep Down, I want to stick to a style, but there are many things with which I want to search and experiment. I keep on music that affects me,” says Alvin. His music gained popularity with his first EP release Fall out In mid -2020. ‘Flying Star’, this EP was also played on the viral top 50 India playlist along with Spotify India Curated Playlist Radar India. In addition, the title track from the same EP, ‘Fall Today’, was played at the A-list pop of Apple Music, which breaks the Indian independent and Indian independent hit playlists.
Playing at four places across Japan, his tour includes a stop in Tokyo’s Music Bridge, a showcase festival that brings independent artists like him from all over the world. The 32 -year -old said, “I came and implemented an application for this showcase in August last year. I have always loved Japanese culture, so I thought it would be a great opportunity,” 32 -year -old, who performed in the International Chess Olympiad in Chennai in 2022, and later opened to celebrity comedian Veer Das on my desired tour.

Alvin began his music trip in 2016, when he was part of a band Etwa, but his solo career began after the epidemic. “During the time, communication was the only thing that kept us sensible. I used to go under YouTube Rabbithols, discovered new music, and then lived on the Instagram to discuss it and connect with people,” he says, during these interactions, he met an agent from Japan. “He told me that if I ever came to Japan, and I did it exactly.”
Being a bilingual composer who writes songs in English and Tamil – Foreign two languages ​​for Japan – Alvin hopes that music themselves will be enough to connect with fellow artists and audiences. “They are open to accept new things, and I am hoping that even though they are not understanding what I say in English, music will talk. This is its own language, right?” He says, saying that he has previously demonstrated his Tamil compositions during his visit to India in non-tamil-speaking cities, where he received well.
His latest EP, Pain -gholThere are currently five tracks, of which he wrote, composed and created in 2022. “The full album comes in September this year, and is going to have more synthesis. It will take the vibe of the 1980s and 1990s. In the previous EP, I focused on songs and production, but in this one, I wanted to bring my singing to the foreground,” he says.
Japan Tour will serve as a preview for its upcoming album. “I have some songs that I want to try for a new audience, so I am doing this in Japan. The show is going to be completely unplugged – just my drummer, Vinay Ramakrishnan, and I” Alvin says “Alvin says that he is especially excited to perform in Kyoto, the final stop on his tour. “When I imagine Japan in my head, I think I am really just imagining Kyoto.”
