The Ambani family began the wedding celebrations of their son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant by organising a ‘mass wedding’ for over 50 underprivileged couples from the Palghar region between Gujarat and Mumbai.

The ceremony was held at Reliance Corporate Park in Navi Mumbai, attended by around 800 people, including family members of the couples, local social activists and community representatives. The Ambani family kicked off the event with traditional fervour and a profound message of service to humanity. The Ambani family graced the occasion and wished each couple individually, adding a personal touch to the auspicious ceremony. As a gesture of goodwill and to mark the start of their new journey together, each couple was gifted significant gifts. The brides received gold jewellery including mangalsutras, wedding rings and nose rings, as well as silver jewellery like toe rings and anklets. Each bride was also given a cheque for the sum of Rs 1.01 lakh as her ‘streedhan’, which symbolises her personal wealth.

In addition, the couples were provided with essential groceries and household goods for a year, as well as appliances and bedding. After the wedding ceremony, the attendees were treated to a sumptuous dinner, creating an atmosphere of joy and harmony amongst all. Highlighting the cultural richness of the occasion, the ceremony also included the traditional Tarpa dance performed by the Warli tribe.

Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, said, “I am extremely happy to see the newly-wed couples here… I extend my blessings to all these couples. Anant and Radhika’s ‘shubh-lagna’ celebrations begin today with a mass wedding ceremony.”
