New Delhi:

Amitabh Bachchan, who is garnering a lot of praise for playing Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin’s film Kalki 2898 AD, addressed the issue of asking the director’s permission before going to the toilet during the shoot on his blog. Amitabh Bachchan has been praised for his “humility” ever since the director has publicly revealed the fact. Sharing his viewpoint, Amitabh Bachchan said that he is a servant and he should take the director’s permission before even going to the toilet. Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “It’s not being humble to set an example.. it’s just an act of extreme mediocrity.. and the noise is too much.. and the director says it’s a big deal that I asked his permission to go to the toilet during the shoot.. yes I need to take permission.. it’s his set, his time, he’s the captain, I’m a servant hired, if I have to go to the toilet, I have to take his permission!”

Elaborating on his thought, Amitabh Bachchan said that the director might need him at the last minute and should know his whereabouts. The superstar wrote, “Maybe he has designed a shot that needs to be shot ‘urgently’.. May be he needs me for lighting.. May be he wants me to practice the shot with my colleagues or just me.. a lot of things happen when the captain is in charge.. so I have to take his permission to leave the set…”

Amitabh Bachchan further said, “When the shot was ready, he himself called me on the set, he wanted me to work in his film, I had to follow his words and instructions… and I did the same… then what is the point of so much fuss.”

Earlier during an interview with India Today, Nag Ashwin shared his experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan and said that he was surprised when the senior actor asked him for permission to go to the toilet. “I think we were shooting, and there was a delay. We were trying to catch up and he came to me and I tried to make an excuse to him about the delay and he said, ‘Can I just use the toilet and come?’ I said, ‘Why are you asking me, sir, you can do whatever you want.’ So he is just that great,” Nag Ashwin said.
