Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh has been given the green light to drop ‘Pitt’ from her name

Angelina and Brad have six children – Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15.

Shiloh legally removes father’s last name

Shiloh was born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, but will now be legally known as Shiloh Jolie after her petition to remove her father’s surname was approved. She first filed the petition in May, when she turned 18. The petition was approved on Monday, August 19, the rescheduled date after a full background check.

“Each individual subject to a name change request is required to have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and due to a clerical error, Shiloh’s hearing has been continued to a new date,” Shiloh’s attorney Peter Levin explained at the time. After filing the petition in May, the process continued into July in accordance with California’s name change statutes, which required her to publish an announcement in the Los Angeles Times that she was changing her name to Shiloh Jolie.

California law for name changes states that a person must publish the legal forms in the newspaper one month before the petition for a name change is approved by a judge. After publication, the request will appear in the legal notices section of the newspaper.

Brad Pitt knew about his daughter’s plea

Shortly after the teen filed the petition, a source close to Brad revealed that the actor was “aware” of the petition. The source added, “He knows and is upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. Being reminded that he lost his children is definitely not easy for Brad. He loves his kids and misses them,” as People reported. Shiloh joins her siblings who have recently cut the actor out of their lives.
