Anshu Ambani calls for leaving behind controversy over director Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s comments

New Delhi: Actress Anshu Ambani on Tuesday urged fans to move on from the controversy over ‘Mazaka’ director Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s comments about her body and focus on the release of her upcoming Telugu film.

At the teaser launch event of “Mazaaka” on Sunday, Nakkina’s comments about Ambani’s body type and “size” drew sharp criticism on social media and within the industry, leading the director to publicly apologize to the actor. He also said that the comments were made “in jest”.

In a video statement shared on social media, Ambani downplayed the incident and called Nakkina “the sweetest man on the planet”.

“I believe his words may have been taken out of context… He has treated me like a member of his family. I have worked on this film for 60 days, and I feel respected, Nothing has been given but love and much more.” Good luck, please, if we can make it happen, because I’m very excited about the film.

On Monday, Nakkina released a video statement apologizing for his comments and calling them “unfortunate.”

“I made those comments jokingly, hoping everyone would laugh. However, if these comments hurt you then it is my fault. I would like to sincerely apologize as they were offensive. I will also personally apologize to Anshu. “I didn’t realize it would become such an important issue,” he said.

Ambani, known for Telugu films “Manmadhudu” and “Raghavendra” and Tamil title “Jai”, is returning to Telugu cinema after more than 20 years with “Maajaka”, which will release in theaters on February 21.
