Anurag Kashyap is moving out of Mumbai forever; The industry is hated: Netizens call him a C grade director

Mumbai: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his unconventional storytelling, has courted fresh controversy with his recent statement about leaving Mumbai and Bollywood behind. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the acclaimed director expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of the Hindi film industry and described it as stifling and profit-driven.

Kashyap clearly expressed his disappointment, saying, “It is difficult for me to experiment now because filmmaking is now all about profit and margins even before the film starts. The joy of film making has completely gone. Therefore, I have decided to leave Mumbai and go to South next year. I want to work where there’s excitement, otherwise I’ll die an old man. I am disappointed and disappointed in my own industry and its mentality.

He also criticized the new generation of Bollywood actors, saying, “It is very painful to deal with first generation actors and people who are really entitled. Nobody wants to act – they all want to be stars.

Kashyap compared Bollywood to the South Indian film industry and praised directors like Sukumar for creating masterpieces like Pushpa. “Bollywood doesn’t even understand what filmmaking is. They can’t create anything like Pushpa because they have neither the brains nor the passion.”

Kashyap’s comment sparked a wave of reactions online; Many netizens dubbed him a “C-grade director” and accused him of seeking attention. Social media was flooded with comments like “He’s irrelevant now, so he’s talking nonsense for publicity”. Others sympathized with his views and agreed that Bollywood has become more commercialized and less creative.

As Kashyap plans to move into the South Indian film industry, fans and critics alike are wondering about the future of his contribution to Indian cinema. While some believe this could lead to a creative resurgence, others dismiss his comments as an attempt to remain in the limelight.

The filmmaker’s candid comments have undoubtedly reignited the debate about the changing dynamics of Bollywood and the artistic freedom it offers.
