AP Dhillon upset with reality
The singer is saddened to read about the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. He took to Instagram Stories to express his feelings on Friday. He wrote, “Woke up this morning and wanted to express my thoughts the only way I know how…” with a broken heart emoji.
She then released a video of herself singing a song on the incident, in which she wondered if being a girl is a curse. She also referred to the 2012 Nirbhaya rape case, demanding corrective action.
She sang the song in Punjabi, but the video also had lyrics in English, which read, “She has saved the lives and souls of many people. Lord, how could her fate be so tragic? She was not safe even in a place where everyone knew her. Today we all ask you, is it a curse to be born as a girl in this world?”
The lyrics of her video read, “For the women who have changed the world, society has refused to change. Though they have progressed as far as the sea, society has barely moved an inch. What happened 12 years ago is still happening today. Why do we still have to march for the peaceful life of women?”

Since the news surfaced, many Bollywood celebrities have expressed shock and demanded action in this matter. Earlier, Twinkle Khanna, Kangana Ranaut, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Tisca Chopra, Parineeti Chopra, Preity Zinta, Richa Chadha and Swara Bhaskar have demanded justice for the victim.

On August 9, a post-graduate trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The family has alleged that the victim was raped and murdered. Doctors and celebrities have been continuously protesting across the country in support of the victim and demanding justice for her.
The victim’s post-mortem report revealed that she was bleeding from her private parts, eyes and mouth, indicating that she was brutally beaten and subjected to ‘genital torture’. The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
