Tributes and condolences have been pouring in after the demise of popular TV anchor, actor and Kannada voice of Namma Metro Aparna Vastare in Bengaluru. The anchor-actress died on July 11 at the age of 57. She had been battling stage four lung cancer for two years.
Top Karnataka leaders condoled the demise of Karnataka’s beloved TV presenter through Twitter (formerly Twitter), while several colleagues from the industry shared their grief and memories with Aparna on social media.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed grief over her untimely demise on Twitter, writing, “It is sad that a versatile personality, who was a household name in the state for her graceful and captivating performances on leading Kannada channels and at government functions and events, has left us too soon.”
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar described her death as “an irreparable loss to the world of art”. He wrote: “The passing away of Smt Aparna, a renowned presenter and actress who won the hearts of Kannadigas with her superb Kannada language is extremely saddening… I pray for the peace of her soul… My condolences to her family and friends. Om Shanti.”

For citizens travelling by Namma Metro, Aparna was a constant companion during their journey in Bengaluru. As the voice behind the Kannada announcements in the Metro, the actress had worked closely with the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). Honouring her collaboration, BMRCL not only posted on X but also recorded a special message, which was played to all its commuters on July 12.

Anushree, one of the most popular anchors of Kannada television, posted a reel on Instagram, in which she recalled her time spent with Aparna in the Bigg Boss house. They both were contestants in the first season of Bigg Boss Kannada. Celebrating the grace and talent that Aparna has provided in the field of anchoring, Anushree called her the “one and only”. big Presenter – Then, Now and Forever.”
Swetha Changappa, another Kannada actress and television host who shared the stage with Aparna Majaa Talkiescomedy show, wrote a heartfelt note remembering the sisterly bond between them and bid a tearful farewell to the “beloved Kannadithi” of Karnataka.
