AR Murugados explains why Kalpna never learned Sachin’s true identity in Ghajini

Mumbai: In 2008, an entire generation of cinegar was released to cinegar, when he moved to theaters in 2008, to find out that the character of Kalpanna (played by Asin) in ‘Ghajini’ died without the true identity of her lover, Sanjay Singania (starred by Aamir Khan).

For milleniels, which thrive at a powerful dose of commercial cinema, it is a deep wound that refuses to heal. There are emotional reels on Instagram, talking about how Kalpanna is dying without knowing who he was, the worst thing with Sanjay’s character.

IANS met director R. Murugados before his upcoming release, Salman Khan-starrer ‘Sikander’, and asked the burning question, hoping that the filmmaker would spread some tea. And, they broke the scene, and how the hidden information camp operated Sanjay’s vengeance, which is a changed revenge in the speed.

Talking about the same, the director told IANS, “When I wrote the script, I thought, ‘What if Kalpana comes to know that she is the real Sanjay? How would she react to it?’

In the film, Kalpana also gives money to Sanjay, before she was brutally murdered by ‘Ghajini’. His gesture touches Aamir’s character in the film deeply. The director used Kalpana’s innocence as a tool to carry forward the sentiments of the audience.

The director further mentioned, “Sanjay had a lot to tell him, to reveal him his identity, but he could not do all this because not only did Kalpana die, before he could tell him, he was also suffering from short -term memory loss after that incident. Both these things fuel their passion to take revenge, and make it real”.

The filmmaker then flipped the conversation, and thought a counter, as he said, “If Kalpana came to know about the true identity of Aamir’s character, we would not discuss this scene, it has been 16 years after the release of the film, and yet everyone talks about it, as a writer and director I see as a work that has been done well as a work”.

R. Murugados has mostly worked with some of the biggest superstars of Indian cinema, with Ajit Kumar in ‘Dhenna’, ‘Stalin’ with Chiranjeevi, Suriya and Aamir Khan with ‘Ghajini’ (both Tamil and Hindi version), Rashmika Mandanna in ‘Sikander’.

Although it may look like a dream filmography, most of your films have all superstars, dealing with such big names increases bets.

How does he navigate the challenges working with a superstar? The director told IANS, “For superstars, we have the responsibility of satisfying their fans and business. Therefore, we cannot cheat fans and we can’t even show the goods regularly. With all the big stars, with all the big stars, as a filmmaker, you have to go in your own way, but a little different. So some dialogues can lengthen.

He also said how he mounts action in his films, as he said, “When we go to film the action sequence, we should discuss, ‘Why this action?” Is the hero fighting for his mother, sister, girlfriend or someone else.

He continued, “In addition, the placement of the action sequence is very important, if it comes in the first half, it will not have a deep impact on the audience, we cannot fight a climax in the first half. Also, the mood of the scene is also very important, if the mood is well made, a slap is also a slap.

“I am originally a writer and director, so I know better than someone else. For a film, which I wrote, the work starts in six months or perhaps a year ago to enter the project from an actor. Therefore, I meet the actor and tell the story. I know how to speak my character, how he will eat, how he is doing, if I do something, if I do something, how I am doing.

Manufactured by Sajid Nadidwala, ‘Alexander’ is set to debut in theaters on March 28.
