Mumbai: Archana Puran Singh has been happily married to actor Parmeet Sethi for decades and the couple is known for their strong and lasting relationship. However, Archana recently revealed a humorous but surprising detail about their marriage: Parmeet once threatened her with divorce over her decision to buy a bungalow in Mud Island.
In a candid chat with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their podcast Bharti TV, Archana revealed how her dream of living in a huge bungalow in Mud Island almost led to a clash with her husband. While most Bollywood celebrities choose to live in Juhu, Bandra or Khar, Archana chose the serene Madh Island, which was much more isolated at that time.
“I got a really cheap deal at that time, so I bought it,” Archana recalled. Raised in a bungalow in Dehradun, she was adamant on adopting a similar lifestyle in Mumbai. “I told Parmeet, ‘If we are buying a bungalow, it should have at least six or seven spacious rooms. Otherwise, it’s not even a bungalow!” he explained.
Parmeet, who was used to the convenience of living in Mumbai flats, initially opposed the idea. Archana hilariously recalls his reaction: “He said, ‘If you’re planning to get two bungalows, I’m divorcing you!'” However, Archana stood her ground and replied, ” I don’t care, divorce me or not, I am buying the bungalow.”
Although Parmeet was reluctant at first, he eventually accepted the idea when he started designing the house. The quiet location and peaceful commute from work to home eventually changed his mind. “The journey back home was very peaceful and comfortable. I thought to myself, I can do this every day, not just on weekends,” Parmeet shared.
The couple decided to give it six months to see if it worked for their lifestyle, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions they ever made. Today Archana’s Mud Island Bungalow is not just her home but a treasure of memories. She often shares glimpses of her luxurious home on Instagram and her YouTube channel, giving fans a glimpse into her life.
Archana and Parmeet’s light-hearted banter and mutual respect is proof of their strong bond. Their story of compromise and humor shows why they remain one of Bollywood’s most loved couples. As Parmeet himself admitted, “Initially I was against it, but now I can’t imagine living anywhere else.”
