Adele didn’t hold back in silencing an aggressive fan at her Las Vegas residency show on Saturday, June 1, the first day of Pride Month. A clip of the ‘Someone Like You’ singer clapping back at a spectator who made homophobic comments at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace has now gone viral on social media.
Although the English singer was busy enjoying the night, performing some of her most loved hits including “Hello” and “Rolling in the Deep” and having heartfelt conversations with guests at the concert, things soon took a sudden turn.
The whole scene changed when the sweet evening turned abusive, with Adele silencing a fan who was at her show after she heard them yell, “Vanity sucks.”

This is how Adele responded to a homophobic commenter at her Las Vegas concert
The 36-year-old Grammy-winning singer didn’t hold back for a second and lashed out at the man who yelled the insensitive statement during her show. She immediately responded, “Did you come on my show and just say Pride sucks? Are you stupid? Don’t be so stupid. If you don’t have anything nice to say, just shut up, okay?”
The incident took place at Adele’s Las Vegas show, when June opened its chapter in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. The month is dedicated to Pride Month celebrations every year, commemorating the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, apart from other representations on the broad spectrum of Pride. LGBTQ Pride Month began with the Stonewall riots of 1969, which started on June 28, 1969. After that, the first Pride March began in full swing on the same date the following year.
Adele responds to homophobic viewer criticism
As soon as the video of Adele lashing out at a homophobic fan at her show went viral on the internet, social media users immediately praised her. Comments and tweets such as “And that’s why she’s a mother” and “Adele always speaks her mind, that’s why I love her, she doesn’t care” flooded X/Twitter. Many praised her actions as “iconic” and crowned her their “queen” again for being a “good ally”.

Another X user wrote, “Adele lashing out at you means you really said something wrong. Showing homophobia is ridiculous even during pride month. Even in the year 2024. Smh…”
Adele’s solidarity with LGBTQ+ issues
This is not the first instance when the evergreen artist has shown solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. As a staunch supporter of the cause, she has consistently shown her solidarity with the gay community.
In 2011, she performed for free at Pride in London. Also, always vocal about her support for gay causes, she showed her solidarity by performing a Belgian show dedicated to those affected by the tragic shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, in 2016. “The LGBTQ community, they’ve been like my peers since I was very young, so I’m very affected by that,” the Send My Love hitmaker said at the time.
CNN called the heartbreaking tragedy at the Orlando gay nightclub “the deadliest mass shooting in the United States and the country’s worst terrorist attack since 9/11,” as an American-born man pledging allegiance to ISIS killed 49 people and wounded at least 53 in the packed club at around 2 a.m.
