Earlier, through a series of posts on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, @Atmojoarjalojo, Arijit Singh had already hinted at his decision.
He wrote, “God has really been kind to me. I am a fan of good music and in the future, I will learn more and build myself as a small artist. Thank you once again for all your support.”

He later clarified that retiring from playback singing does not mean moving away from music completely.
“To be clear, I will never stop making music,” he said.

During his illustrious career, Arijit Singh has won two National Film Awards for Best Male Playback Singer, first at the 66th National Film Awards for Binte Dil from Padmaavat (2018), and later for Brahmastra’s Kesariya: Part One – Shiva (2022) at the 70th National Film Awards.
In January 2025, he was also awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award, for his outstanding contribution to Indian music.
