“When I think of an idea, I want to find out its possibilities. I don’t understand it to limit it. The painting is the simplest form of expression, but I enjoy going beyond it,” Gurmeet says how he always imagines a concept from different angles and perspectives.
Animals include Gurmeet’s functions – goats, donkeys, monkeys, owls and frogs regularly – both paintings and woodcuts. “In conversations, the local puppet inspired me to use animals as its subjects. For example, like words donkey (Donkey) and Bakhra (Goats) are often part of casual conversation, so I started using them in my work. It is not symbolic; This is just the language I speak and grew up, ”says Delhi -based artist.
Talking about how Humanoid figures have been depicted in some recent works, Gurmeet says that it is a symbol of the subject he wants to present, and the depiction occurred by coincidence. “This is the first time I used a human person in my art. It was not conscious, but some concepts needed such a hero, so it was brought inside.”
Gurmeet separates the work of simplicity, and his habit of presenting important ideas for him without complications. In this exhibition, Gurmeet has presented the artifacts manufactured on everyday experiences, raising their middle class, hierarchy and social structures.

“I come from a middle class family, and live a regular life in a metro. Many things affect our lives, and they can be personal, social or political. Everyone has a perspective or opinion on various subjects and they choose to express them in their own way.I do it in the language I know, which is visual art. If I were a poet, I would write poems. ,
Describing the choice of titles for his tasks, he says that it is a way to connect with the audience. “This is a way to direct the audience what I want to say without overloading them with information.”
Their artifacts often have subtle, almost monochromatic backgrounds, focusing on a central object or figure that carries the message.
“I think the job of an artist is to simplify things. Art does not mean to confuse the viewer. I want the audience to look at the subject directly and understand his idea.”
