The movie ‘Auron Main Kaha Dum Tha’ stars Ajay Devgan and Tabu in lead roles (Where were you in my mind? Finally, it has released in theaters today i.e. 2nd August 2024. Despite the presence of Tabu and Ajay Devgn, the film did not live up to expectations. The much-loved onscreen pairing of Ajay Devgan and Tabu and their rapport with director Neeraj Pandey also failed to impress as the story of the film is largely predictable and flat. the story
The story of the film begins with a man named Krishna (played by Ajay Devgan) who spends his days in jail. This man repeatedly goes into flashbacks and thinks about his past. As the story progresses, Krishna’s crime unfolds and so does his 22-year-old love story, in which Krishna comes to Mumbai from his village and meets a girl named Vasudha (played by Tabu). After this, Shantanu Maheshwari and Sai Manjrekar are seen in the roles of young Krishna and Vasudha in the film. An accident occurs that is shown three times in flashback, with neither a new angle nor a twist. Krishna has been sent to jail after the accident. Meanwhile Vasudha gets married to someone else named Abhijeet (played by Jimmy Shergill) who loves Vasudha like Krishna. Despite feeling insecure in his mind, he gets Krishna out of jail. At the end of the story comes a truth about the accident that is largely predictable. Krishna then leaves the country to start a new life while Vasudha spends the rest of her life with her husband.
directing
Neeraj Pandey has not only directed the film but also written its script. A well-worn story is shown that you may have seen better many times on the big screen. Earlier Neeraj had revealed that he held the story for 11 years, which raised more expectations from the film but this unfinished love story without any thrills leaves you disappointed. The film’s story is its weakest offering.
acting
Talking about acting, Ajay’s character is shown as an unhappy and true lover. Ajay is a good actor but there was nothing new for him in this film, neither action nor romance. Most of his scenes go into flashbacks and his character seems rather weak, lost in nostalgia. Despite his good acting, he has not been able to portray this character well. It can also be called the weakest performance of his career. Along with Ajay Devgn, Tabu is also seen in only two pairs of clothes in the entire film.
On the other hand Tabu also has nothing special in this film. Although she was successful in portraying the emotions of sadness and pain, her character was not effective. Jimmy Shergill’s role in the film is very small and comes into the story after the interval and people think that he will be the highlight of the story but it doesn’t happen. The story could have been established better if his character was a bit longer. Shantanu Maheshwari and Sai Manjrekar, who are seen as young Krishna and Vasudha, have some great scenes in the film. It would not be wrong to say that both are carrying the story of the film on their shoulders. Shantanu plays the role of a well-behaved boy, but even light action scenes don’t suit him. His chocolate boy image is intact here as well.
Sai’s acting is commendable. She has got the full advantage of being a Marathi as her character in the film is also that of a Marathi girl. Shantanu and Sai have a good chemistry too, the only thing is that their scenes are repeated over and over again. There is only one most powerful character in the story named Jignesh. This character is played by Jay Upadhyay. He was successful in making people laugh in the character of Ajay Devgn’s friend.
the song
The songs ‘Kisi Roz…’ and ‘Ae Dil Zara…’ are good. The camera handling on the cinematography front is excellent. Long shots showing the ocean are impressive. It can be said that the songs and cinematography make the film somewhat interesting.
How is the movie?
The story of unconditional love and sacrifice is very weak. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is not worth watching as it is a cliché for cinema lovers who find something new in every movie. We are giving this movie only 2 stars out of five.
