Avatar: The Way of Water grossed approximately $134 million domestically in its first weekend in 2022 and a global debut of approximately $441 million over the same period.
However, Fire and Ash got off to a solid start, especially amid declining moviegoer numbers and with three films, Marty Supreme and Zootopia 2 competing together during the holiday season.
Many reports suggest that Fire and Ash may reach the higher earning target in the second week as well.
Entertainment Weekly has reported that Cameron’s Avatar franchise has planned two more releases, with Avatar 4 to be released in 2029, and Avatar 5 to be released in 2031. A small portion of Avatar 4 has already been shot during the production of Avatars 2 and 3.
