Baby John box office collection Day 5: Varun Dhawan’s film struggles to gain momentum

New Delhi: Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Baby John’ has completed its first extended weekend, but the action drama is underwhelming as it fails to capitalize on its promising start. Despite expectations that ‘Baby John’ would perform better after its release on December 25, it has shown only marginal improvement in its fourth day collections, and shows no signs of progressing further.

‘Baby John’ box office collection day 5

The film has earned Rs 28.65 crore in India till the fifth day, with a total of Rs 23.9 crore and a total of Rs 28.7 crore. The troubling box office trend of the film is highlighted by the fact that it has not managed to cross the Rs 30 crore barrier even after a long first weekend.

According to industry watcher Sacanilc, the film’s Sunday performance was somewhat better, earning Rs 4.75 crore. The film’s total earnings have reached Rs 36.7 crore, of which Rs 8 crore came from the international market. Having said that, considering the underperformance of Baby John in India and the production cost of Rs 160 crore, it is very unlikely that the film will be able to break even.

The total occupancy of the film on Sunday was only 17.38%, with the evening show drawing the highest crowd. The film has 3,490 shows in India, of which 69 shows in Chennai have the highest occupancy rate of 39.75%. It was followed by Pune, which had 24.25% occupancy across 213 shows, and Mumbai, which had 23.75% occupancy across 563 shows. Delhi NCR had the lowest occupancy rate among 921 shows at 13.75%.

Despite the film’s disappointing performance, ‘Baby John’ achieved something significant: It became Varun Dhawan’s highest opening day film in the last five years. For comparison, the opening day collections of his previous films ‘Bhediya’ (Rs 7.48 crore) and ‘Jugjug Jeeyo’ (Rs 9.28 crore) respectively were.

Fate of ‘Baby John’ hangs in limbo as holiday box office race continues; The producer and production company of the film are in danger of losing a lot of money if the film continues on its current path.

Produced by Atlee, ‘Baby John’ stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi and Jackie Shroff.
