London: British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has changed its voting process for the international TV category to allow all 6,000 members to be enrolled and the winners to determine, the deadline was reported.
Earlier, Round One Voting Longitist was performed by members, but two and three votes were conducted by a jury.
According to the outlet, the awards body stated that it “has opened the international category for voting members for more and more members engagement in TV awards and as part of our commitment in our recognition of our global membership,” as quoted by Deadline.
“We believe this change will strengthen the category and ensure that very good international programs will be recognized,” he said, ”
This new step of BAFTA is a reflection of a ever-the-western world of television, as the international TV category has given some interesting winners in the last few years.
According to Deadline, in 2024, it was given to the Netflix France Series ‘Class Act’, which defeated competition with huge hits such as ‘The Beer’, ‘Beef’ and ‘Succession’.
A year ago, the controversial ‘Dahmar – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’ defeated Jennifer Ortga’s choice of ‘Wednesday’ and ‘The White Lotus’.
Last year’s winner was Disney+Shogun, reported the deadline.
