Bail hearing delayed in Saif Ali Khan Chura case

Mumbai: Hearing on the bail argument of Shereful Islam, one of the persons arrested in connection with the stabbing attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan took place on Tuesday, 1 April.

However, the proceedings were delayed as the police did not give their reply in the court.

The next hearing is now scheduled for April 4, when the court has directed the police to submit their reply about the bail application.

In his petition, Sherephal Islam, also known as Shahzad, has maintained his innocence, claiming that the case against him has coined.

The application submitted through his lawyer, Ajay Gawali argues that the first information report (FIR) was unfairly registered.

Shahzad also said that he has fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation and all the necessary evidence is already in the possession of the police, which is impossible to tamper.

In this case, which is currently being heard in the Bandra Magistrate Court, is expected to be transferred to the session court after the police filed a charge sheet.

So far, the charge sheet has not been presented by the Bandra Police.

The attack on Saif Ali Khan took place on 16 January when Shezad allegedly tried a robbery, broke into the actor’s Bandra residence.

During the incident, Khan was seriously injured, damaging his thoracic spine and other body parts.

The actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was treated for five days before being discharged on 21 January.

The Mumbai Police has said that they have important evidence connecting Shehzad to the attack.

Investigators revealed that they had entered India from Bangladesh and eventually stayed at several places in Kolkata before making their way to Mumbai.

In a statement earlier this year, Additional Police Commissioner Paramjit Singh Dahiya denied rumors about the mismatch fingers.

“Whenever an allegation is made, evidence of several evidence is collected against it. We have found very oral, physical and technical evidence against the accused … We have caught the right person,” Dahiya said.
