Bakhtiar Irani said he was dropped from Sara Ali Khan’s film Ae Watan Mere Watan at the last minute

Actor Bakhtiar Irani revealed in a recent interview that he was earlier supposed to work in Sara Ali Khan’s historical biopic. aye watan mere watanBut a big name was roped in at the last minute. While appearing on Inside The Mind with Rushabh, he revealed that he was asked to lose weight for the role as he was considered too heavy. “The director called me, it’s (Karan Johar’s production). I didn’t know, I thought I was meeting the director Kanan (Iyer). I met him, he told me I was very well built, but in the 1940s people were short. So I lost 8 kilos in a month and a half and went back to him. He said, ‘Very good, contract signing next (next) week.’ Everything was done. I told my wife and family and my close friends about it, I told about 30 people because I was about to sign it the next day. I wondered what could go wrong

When asked about the reason for being replaced, he said, “Big name, not a good actor… and I have given auditions, proper auditions. Director Kannan liked me. Everything was proper. But I decided not to talk about it… but it was a huge blow for me because it would have been a big opportunity for me.”

In aye watan mere watanSara plays Usha Mehta, a young woman who starts an underground radio station to spread the message during the Quit India Movement.
