What did Ridley say?

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 86-year-old filmmaker revealed, “I would love to work on Gladiator III. There’s already an idea for it,” indicating that creative work is already underway for the next chapter.

Scott’s vision for ‘Gladiator 3’ is inspired by the iconic story of ‘The Godfather Part II’.

He expressed interest in exploring themes similar to the classic film, and demonstrated his intention to delve deeper into character development and narrative complexity.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, news of a potential sequel first surfaced after French publication Premiere shared similar information with Scott.

More information

As anticipation grows for “Gladiator II,” which arrives two decades after the original film that won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe, Scott’s enthusiasm for the future of the franchise is clear.

“Gladiator II” stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott is also working on a Bee Gees biopic at Paramount, with production expected to begin next year in London and Miami.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Roland Emmerich has announced that his upcoming gladiator-themed TV series, ‘Those About to Die’, will also take inspiration from ‘The Godfather Part II’, specifically using flashbacks.

Although both projects reference the same source material — the novels by Daniel P. Mannix — they will approach their stories in different ways.

As for ‘Gladiator II,’ Scott is optimistic and says it “could be even more extraordinary than the first part.”

This confidence was also evident during his appearance at CinemaCon in April, where he shared early footage of the film.
