Jennifer Lopez may have filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, but the two are effectively still working together, although not as co-stars. Diversity, Unstoppable director William Goldenberg reveals if there were any awkward situations between them on the set even though Ben is a co-producer and Jennifer is the lead actress. What did William say?
When the director was asked if there were any awkward situations on the set of his film, he said, “There really wasn’t any.” “Everybody is professional, and it’s their own personal thing. I love them both. I mean, I know Ben better, but working with Jennifer was a dream. She was incredible. And her private life is her private life,” he added.
Unstoppable, a biographical sports drama, is William’s directorial debut. Ben Affleck, along with his old friend and producing partner Matt Damon, have given William the big chance to direct under their banner Artists Equity. William has been the editor of Ben’s directorial ventures, including Gone Baby Gone (2007), Argo (2012), Live by Night (2016) and Air, which released last year and starred both Ben and Matt.
Interestingly, Jennifer got involved in Unstoppable through Ben. William pitched the idea for Unstoppable to Ben when they were working together on Air. Ben not only decided to produce it, but also cast his wife Jennifer in the lead role. However, just a few weeks before Unstoppable premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, Jennifer filed for divorce from Ben after a little over 2 years of marriage.
Unstoppable premieres in Venice
Jennifer Lopez oozed A-list glamour at TIFF on Friday for the world premiere of Unstoppable, which drew raves from the audience. It was her first red carpet appearance since announcing her divorce from Ben Affleck, who co-produced the film but was not in attendance.
Jennifer wore a metallic silver gown that looked absolutely stunning, with a black velvet bow, her hair long and open. Sky-high silver platform heels completed her look.
In Unstoppable, Jennifer plays Judy, the mother of high school wrestler Anthony Robles (Jharrel Jerome), who, despite being born with one leg, was determined to, and achieved, his dream of becoming an American university champion.
Oscar nominees Don Cheadle and Michael Pena play their demanding coaches, and Bobby Cannavale plays their abusive stepfather, who repeatedly throws the family into trouble.
Unstoppable depicts Robles’ inspirational story as well as the hardships of his family life and his close relationship with his mother.
