If you’re the kind of person who types scroll-videos on your screen, there’s a 100% chance that a short reel from The Vixens Crew has come up on your screen. The seven-member all-girl group, dancing to either desi hits like ‘Sakkatagavale’, ‘Dwapar’, ‘Police Mama’ or western music like ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Swervin’, would definitely have caught your attention. Be it semi-classical dance style or pure hip-hop, the girls move with perfect coordination and master every move.
Formed on January 15, 2023, The Vixens Crew consists of dancers Medha Naidu, Anushka Anand, Megha J, Bhavana V, Renee Ripple Kadakia, Ketaki Vaze and Vibha Vinod Shekhar. They started out as a college dance band called Onslaught and went viral with their dance reel ‘People’ by LiBianca, which gradually inspired them to pursue a career as professional dancers.
Medha, one of the dancers trained in Kathak, talks from Mumbai, in between her dance rehearsals before a show. “We were all part of a college dance group called Onslaught, which was a western dance group in our college (MCC, Bengaluru). When we graduated, we were still being invited to perform outside the college. Since we couldn’t perform as Onslaught, we created The Vixens Crew. The group only had to come for a few performances and we started posting our dance reels on our virtual platforms just for fun. Nothing serious, but we started getting more views, likes and the same craze was seen in the stage show as well.
Medha also shared that her TikTok dance reel ‘People’ by Libianka was shot in the “basketball court of our college”!
She then explains why they chose the name ‘Vixens’, “It means female fox and represents fierce and powerful, which also represents us as dancers and so we felt the name suited us. ” It is mostly teamwork and Medha says that technology has also played an important role in the creation of The Vixens Crew. TikTok gained popularity during the lockdown and it was the short format content that gained popularity; We began experimenting with dance forms and choreography in this format.
Still, Medha says, “Even if we are making a short reel, the work process is equally intensive as it involves rehearsals, shooting, camera, choreography and editing, which is quite demanding. We also make sure that we practice together for at least two hours every day.

Bhavana, another dancer from the troupe, says, “We have been together for almost five years, since our college days, and have attended workshops, danced, disagreed, agreed and traveled together for shows Is. One thing I love about Vixens is its versatility, because as a dancer we each have our own style and yet we come together as a dance team, which is what makes Vixens unique. Is.
Another member, Renee, says: “The journey has been magical. We’ve come a long way and I’ve enjoyed every part of it – each of us has grown as a dancer. Today our bond has gone beyond dance. “No one can match this experience and bond.”
“Their journey from campus dancers to content creators to international limelight has been tremendous,” says Medha. “We started getting support from brands. In the beginning, we didn’t know how to react to the fans’ madness and were wondering what we should do. But, when elderly women come to us and say that they have watched our reels with their college-going daughters, it means a lot to us. Since we all love to dance, becoming professional dancers seemed like a natural path for us. Dance is our passion and dream. We each take turns choreographing a dance piece and we use our original training in the classical or western dance styles we have learned to create our work.
“This is a dream come true for us,” says the crew, who will be performing at the YouTube Fan Fest 2024, Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals 2024, Absolute Pride Event 2024 and RCB Unbox Event 2024.
