Hanumankind has taken over social media with their incredible new music video for Big Dogs.
If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram this week, you’ve probably seen a vest-clad, stomping man jumping into a well of death while grooving to some great tunes. This is Hanumankind, a rapper from Kerala who has taken the world music world by storm with his latest music video, Big Dogs. Released three weeks ago, the song has garnered 7 million views and thousands of comments from new fans. Several videos, reels have surfaced on Instagram, calling the video ‘the best of the year’ and overall the most impressive music video to come out of India.
Praise from the world
The video features a scene from the well of death, with stuntmen and stuntwomen driving cars and Hanumankind dancing to their music. Electric cinematography, crazy camera angles and exciting editing combine to make Big Dogs an adrenaline-pumping watch. The song is written by Hanumankind himself while the video is directed by Bejoy Shetty.
Fans from around the world left supportive comments on the YouTube video. Hanumankind also commented, “Without a doubt this is one of the hardest things I have ever done. However, the artists who do this every day are true risk takers. What incredible people, truly inspiring.”
Indians also felt proud of Hanumankind as he took Indian music to the global stage. One person wrote, “Indian hip-hop scene will go global because of legends like this.” A comment on Instagram read, “First hard Indian rapper I saw.” Another person wrote, “This is crazy how they filmed this.”
About video shooting
Hanumankind spoke about filming the video in an interview with The Hindu. “They call it Maut Ka Kuan. You should give credit to the people who perform there every day because they risk their lives to entertain people. I went there just for a day, but I am lucky that they accepted me into their community and let me take part in something like this,” he said. He added that the video was shot near his hometown, Malappuram.
