Washington: Iranian filmmaker Zafar Panahi has been tapped for the Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award at the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
He was then recognized at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Panahi accepted Palme D’Or for “It’s Just a accident”, a film directly inspired in jail in a prestigious incident.

“This belief reminds me that cinema can still associate us beyond boundaries, languages and limits,” Panaahi said on receiving the honor, “I accept the award not only in my name, but also from all of them, who continue, in silence, in exile, or under pressure.”
His films constantly examine the subjects of personal freedom and resistance, often focusing on marginalized voices within the Iranian society.
Panahi, who is considered one of the greatest authers of Iranian cinema, won the first award “The Circle,” “Offside,” “It’s not a film,” Taxi “and” No Beer “and” No Beer, “Venice Film Festival’s 2022 Special Jury Awards. “Taxi” won the Berlin Golden Beer in 2015, while his “offside” won the silver beer according to the variety in 2006.

Busan’s Asian filmmaker of the year Honor goes to individuals or organizations who have a lot of advanced in Asian cinema and culture. Panahi will receive the award at the opening ceremony of the festival on 17 September.
The 30th edition of Busan runs from 17 to 26 September, with the Asian material and the film market from 20 to 23 September, according to the variety.
