Mumbai: Rajesh Khanna, who became Bollywood’s first superstar, had to go through the worst phase in his career. After continuous failures, the star closed himself and took refuge in alcohol. There was also a time when Rajesh Khanna was at least given a chance to rebuild himself financially. The article shared by Indian Express claims that Rajesh Khanna was offered to be a part of the Bigg Boss show in 2009 and he was offered Rs 3.5 crore per episode.
Ali Prater John, one of the senior journalists, recalled his conversation where he told how Mr Khanna was approached to do Bigg Boss but he refused, “Once, the makers of Bigg Boss called me to fix a meeting with him; they wanted him in the Bigg Boss house. But he said, “No, no, Rajesh Khanna aise show thodi karega (Rajesh Khanna will not work in such a show).” Reportedly Colors was willing to pay the actor Rs 3.5 crore per episode. “I tried to convince him but he refused. The Colors people told me that they are willing to pay him Rs 3.5 crore for every episode but he refused.”
Ali told how Rajesh Khanna had accepted the offer but was later turned down by the producers. “A few days later, he called me and said he wanted to do the show, but by then Colors had lost interest,” Ali said.
It is claimed that the season for which Rajesh Khanna was approached was hosted by his rival and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Journalist Ali Peter John claimed that Rajesh Khanna did not like Big B and his presence around him and preferred to stay under one roof during his presence. Rajesh Khanna passed away in 2012.
