Bigg Boss OTT 3 makers respond after Shiv Sena MLA files complaint against the show

Mumbai: Reality show ‘Bigg Boss OTT 3’, which has been in the headlines since its premiere, has landed in yet another controversy after Shiv Sena MLA Manisha Kayande approached the Mumbai police seeking legal action against the show for allegedly airing inappropriate content.

Kayande, the secretary and spokesperson of the Shiv Sena, along with other members met Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar on Monday and submitted a written complaint expressing concern over the content aired in the episodes of Bigg Boss OTT Season 3 on July 18.

According to the press release, Kayande highlighted that the particular episode featured participants engaging in vulgar and objectionable behaviour, which he described as trampling on social values and transgressing the boundaries of family relationships.

Reacting to the controversy, JioCinema, which streams the show, issued a statement saying that the clip in question had been tampered with and was never aired on their platform.

The statement said, “JioCinema follows strict programming standards and guidelines to ensure the quality and suitability of any content that streams on our platform. Bigg Boss OTT, which was streamed on JioCinema, did not contain any such content. The video clip in circulation has been manipulated to contain obscenity and is fake. We are committed to safeguarding the integrity of JioCinema and the trust our viewers place in it. The creation and circulation of this fake clip is a matter of very serious concern.”

JioCinema said its teams are working towards tracing the origin of the clip and will initiate action against the offenders.

“Our teams are working towards identifying the origin of this clip and will initiate action against those responsible for creating and distributing such derogatory content against Bigg Boss OTT and JioCinema,” the statement said.

The Shiv Sena leader demanded the immediate shutdown of the show and strict action against its producers and the CEO of the broadcasting company. He has requested the Mumbai Police Commissioner to investigate whether the episode has gone viral on various social media platforms and take appropriate legal action against those involved.

Speaking to ANI, Kayande said, “Bigg Boss 3 is a reality show. Its shooting is going on. It is showing complete obscenity. A YouTube influencer is also participating in it and now he has crossed all limits of obscenity. We have requested Mumbai police to take action for the scenes being shown and we have also given them a letter.”
