The 2024 Billboard Music Awards were in Los Angeles on Thursday night. The event celebrated the biggest names in the global music industry. As expected, K-pop artists made a significant impact and took home some big wins. Among them, BTS’s Jungkook stood out, even though he couldn’t attend the ceremony due to his mandatory military conscription. The superstar won two top awards, proving his unmatched global appeal. Jungkook won Top K-pop Album for his record-breaking album Golden and Top K-pop Global Song for his hit track Standing Next to You.
In the Top K-pop Album category, Jungkook faced stiff competition from ATEEZ (The World EP. Fin: Will), Stray Kids (Rock-Star and ATE) and Tomorrow X Together (The Name Chapter: Freefall). For the Top K-pop Global Song award, they won over ILLIT (Magnetic), Jimin (Hu) and LE SSERAFIM (Perfect Night). Notably, Jungkook’s track 3D based on Jack Harlow was also nominated in the same category.
The 2024 Billboard Music Awards also acknowledged the talents of Seventeen and Stray Kids in the K-pop scene. Both the groups added to the excitement of the evening by achieving significant wins in their respective categories. SEVENTEEN won the Top K-pop Touring Artist award, beating out strong contenders like Enhypen and Tomorrow X Together. Meanwhile, Stray Kids beat off stiff competition from Enhypen, Jimin, Jungkook and Tomorrow X Together to be crowned the top global K-pop artist.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift made history with a surprising feat at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. The pop icon won an impressive 10 awards, solidifying her status as one of the greatest artists of all time. Her wins included major categories such as Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard Global (Exclusive US) Artist and Top Billboard Are. 200 albums. It’s safe to say that Taylor completely dominated the evening.
