Mumbai: Mika Singh recently shared several shocking revelations about his experience of making the series Dangerous, which starred Bollywood’s iconic couple Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover. The famous singer turned producer opened up about the difficulties he faced while working with the pair and described the production process as not being smooth.
In a candid interview on Kadak Podcast, Mika discussed how his initial plans for the show got derailed due to various issues, including scheduling conflicts, creative differences and some unexpected drama that came with Bipasha and Karan. Mika initially intended to cast Karan alongside a newcomer to keep the project within budget. However, Bipasha insisted on joining the series along with her husband. While the couple technically fit within the financial constraints, Mika admitted that the experience was unpleasant.
“The shooting was full of issues. To keep the project within the budget I had initially planned to cast Karan with a newcomer. But Bipasha insisted on being included, so we cast both of them. Although they fit the budget, the experience turned out to be unpleasant,” said Mika.
The production faced several hurdles, including a serious injury to Karan, who fractured his leg during a stunt scene, which led to further delays. Mika also revealed frustrations during the dubbing process, where actors would often cite excuses such as a sore throat, which added drama to the production.
Mika explained how the couple’s demands made the project even more complicated. He had originally booked the same room for them, since they were married, but they insisted on having separate rooms. The situation worsened when he demanded to be moved to a different hotel. Mika expressed his confusion at their behavior, saying, “I don’t understand the logic.”
Another point of contention came when the couple refused to film the kissing scene despite signing a contract which included it. Mika expressed disappointment at their behaviour, saying, “They are husband and wife, yet they pretended to kiss each other on screen.” He also noted how big production houses like Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films were treated compared to smaller producers like him. “These stars fall at the feet of big producers…but when it comes to small producers like me, their attitude completely changes.”
Mika confessed that the entire experience caused him to reconsider his future in filmmaking. “I have decided to never produce a film again. And if anyone considers it, they should give opportunities to new people instead,” he said.
The challenges he faced in the industry were further enhanced by the advice he received from industry veterans like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Akshay Kumar had warned him against producing the series, advising, “Why would you want to do that? You have achieved a lot already. Don’t waste your money. You will lose it all.” Salman Khan also shared his views and suggested that if Mika wants to produce, he should act in the film himself, as he is more famous than the actors he cast. Was. Mika admitted that he regretted not following that advice, especially because the series did not go as planned. “I invested a lot of money in it, and the series didn’t take off. If I had acted in it, at least the songs would have been successful,” he said.
Despite the setbacks, Mika’s candid comments about his experience shed light on the difficulties faced by producers working with high-profile stars. As far as Bipasha and Karan are concerned, the couple, who got married in 2016 and welcomed their daughter Devi in 2022, has kept their happiness intact. However, Mika’s negative experience with his behavior on set has forced him to reconsider his future in the film industry.
