The Bengaluru International Short Film Festival 2025 (BISFF) has called for entries from all over the world. It is the 15th edition of BISFF and the annual program provides young, amateur filmmakers not only a platform to showcase their work, but also receive response from industry experts. The BISFF has sections like International, Indian, Karnataka, Animation and Non-Competition. Entries closed on 30 April.
The festival Kikstart in 2010 is the brainchild of Anand Varadaraja, who wears several hats-Bisf, actor-maker, Secretary of Suchitra Film Society, the film’s trustee and drama and mentor for many independent filmmakers and producers.
BISFF, Anand says, “Short films have been started like a platform because we usually show them to our family and friends.
Talking about her association with the Suchitra film Society, Anand says, “I went there due to my guru, Prakash Belawadi, when he was invited to be a part of the thread, I became a part of the film society and was very different, which was too much for the film. And there is still continuing there.”

Regarding the increase in short film medium, Anand says, it is very large, which was particularly seen during the epidemic. “During the epidemic, Bisff also became virtual.
“When filmmakers are asked if their film is shown on our festival and if they have maintained their quality despite some pressures, it is an attractive journey.
He believes that OTT has absorbed us with a lot of content, yet provided a platform for films and chains from countries such as Spain or Vernacular Indian languages.
