BJP leaders Kesari Chapter 2, Hale Akshay Kumar, Madhavan participate in special screening of starrer

New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday attended a special screening of Akshay Kumar-Starr “Kesari Chapter 2”, praising the historic drama film to highlight an unseen chapter from Indian history.

“Kesari Chapter 2”, which is set to release in theaters on 18, delays an untold story of Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

The two leaders participated in the screening with Delhi ministers Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, BJP MPs Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj as well as Akshay and his co-star R Madhavan.

“I want the youth to watch this film, inspire this and show that in difficult circumstances, you have a person who stands against the tide and swims. And this country has become independent. Similarly we are today. We are going to be one of the world’s largest economies.

He took a jib in the Congress, stating that the leaders of the opposition party should watch the film with their children.

He said, “I don’t want to make a political point of this … Congress’ attitude for some of these things, they are so busy promoting their own family that they lose vision with great reality and are really important about the development of the country.”

The film, directed by filmmaker Karan Singh Tyagi for the first time, narrates the true story of lawyer C Shankaran Nair, who fought a legal battle against the British Empire in the 1920s.

The film is based on Nair’s great grandson Raghu Palat and his wife Pushpa Palat’s book “The Case the case the employees”.

It gives details of the 1924 defamation test in which former Punjab’s former Lieutenant Governor Michael O’Dwire and Jallianwala Bagh massacre sued Nair, who had criticized British atrocities in Punjab in his book.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta also praised the film and said that it gave him Gujbhamps.

“This is a wonderful film. I saw half of the film and would like to watch the whole film. I always say that we will not get a chance to die for our country, but we can start living for our country.

“Millions of people sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country, but we do not even know their names. It is our duty to start living for our nation,” he said.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra called “Kesari 2” a great depiction of the Indian independence movement.

“Everyone knows about Jalianwala Bagh, but not everyone knows the whole story,” he said.

The screening of the film in Delhi took place a day later when Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Nair in a public meeting in Haryana.

Modi told the gathering, “None of you may have heard his name. But these days, he is widely talked about.

He said, “We should know about Shankaran Nair’s contribution. Every child in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal should be aware of him.”

Akshay thanked the Prime Minister for accepting Nair’s contribution to the freedom struggle.

He told reporters, “He (Modi) knows about the film and he knew it from the beginning and it is very type to say and it happened that it came when the film is being released.”

Madhavan, who played the role of British lawyer Neville McKinley, said that everyone should watch the film.

“I have got the privilege of being a part of some very historical films, many of them reflect good stories about our country. I think it will be my most glorious film. I think they should see the film (Youth). The message should be loud and clear … An Indian day of thinking has gone. The world should be seen and realized what we are doing.

Manufactured by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, “Kesari Chapter 2” also reflects Ananya Pandey in an important role.
