BLACKPINK Jennie’s LA outing with popular male idol goes viral: ‘Obsessed is an understatement’

BLACKPINK’s Jennie had some time off during her recent trip to the US. Making the most of the opportunity, the cute K-pop idol headed to an unexpected hangout spot in West Hollywood with her friends. This modest-looking restaurant located in a strip mall has also been frequented by Hollywood favorites like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone.

The Odd Atelier founder wasn’t the only K-pop celebrity in this close-knit group of friends. Thai-born rapper BamBam (of GOT7) made an appearance at Sushi Park in Los Angeles as a charming company alongside Jennie. Jennie’s fellow BP member Rosé has also been spotted at the restaurant in the past.

Photos of the two went viral on social media after Instagram user @jpeghype broke the news. A few hours later, the BLACKPINK singer shared a series of solo clicks on her SNS profile, wearing the same all-black OOTD she wore in BamBam’s company.

Fans go crazy over Blackpink Jennie and GOT7 BamBam’s friendship and LA outing

More photos of their night out with friends surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), as presumably other eyewitnesses were overjoyed to see the smiling K-pop duo in LA.

BamBam and Jenny become unexpected friends, despite BamBam’s cordial friendship with Jenny’s classmate, Thai artist Lisa.

Comments started pouring in on several SNS posts featuring glimpses of the Blackpink and GOT7 singers, who are currently pursuing their solo artistic paths. Someone commented on IG: “This sushi park is so famous.” A different Jennie fan urged the admin to “post more.”

Meanwhile, a third IG user was happy to see that they are all friends behind the scenes. “Wow, it’s nice to know that behind the scenes, they are all friends.” Many were pleasantly surprised to see the two together, as some wondered if the other BLACKPINK members were also with them. On the other hand, a group of fans were shocked that Jennie was not in Korea.

Furthermore, a separate set of photos from the hangout session revealed that YG choreographer Silvergun was also present along with other Odd Atelier staff members. “They were cooking something good,” a fan tweeted to X, speculating that Jennie Kim is potentially working on her next big project.

On the other hand, most BLACKPINK fans lost their cool after getting a better look at the South Korean singer’s outfit. “Jenny Ruby spotted in West Hollywood in an Alaia leather jacket and pinstriped trousers. Obsessed is an understatement,” someone tweeted.

“Fit??? Jennie girl you better post it,” another passionate fan requested. And finally, their wish came true. Apart from posting her photos on Instagram, the rapper also shared other photos of her on his IG Stories and confessed, “I miss you winks winks (white heart emoji).”

What do we know about Sushi Park, the restaurant where Jenny and BamBam went?

As for the humble setting of West Hollywood’s famous hangout joint, The New York Times reported in February 2024 that the menu is “omakase style, which means the food is left to the chef’s discretion, and, regulars are, no doubt, familiar with the emphatic sign that greets them out front: ‘Attention. No takeout! No salads! No teriyaki, no tempura! No trendy sushi! No California rolls! No spicy tuna rolls! We serve only traditional sushi!'”

While celebrity visits to the restaurant have increased tabloid mentions of this unassuming place, Peter Park, Sushi Park’s chef and owner, deliberately avoids the spotlight. The NYT further reports that his multiple requests for an interview were declined because the restaurant said in a message, “Our current focus is deeply committed to our regular customers, and we want to focus our efforts on providing them with the best service and experience possible.”
