Blackpink’s Jennie and Billie Eilish reunite after 5 years; subconsciously recreate sweet hug moment at Seoul event

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Billie Eilish connected during their big Coachella moment in 2019, and the love went both ways, with the former even declaring the What Was I Made For? hitmaker her “crush” on Instagram. Five years later, the pop divas reunited in Seoul, South Korea on Tuesday, June 18, for a private listening session of Eilish’s latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.

Jennie first posted the black and white photo on the left on her Instagram. The photo on the right is from the Seoul event on June 18th.

Just like their heartwarming memory from 5 years ago, Jennie and Eilish hugged again with smiles on their faces. Fans were quick to notice the subconscious nostalgia bomb as they drew parallels between their 2019 Coachella snap and the new photo of them hugging each other.

A K-pop fan shared the comparison, and it was really hard to spot the difference between the two photos despite the huge time gap. “Jennie and Billy hug after five years, same position and holding the same hands, oh my god it’s so soft 🥺🤍,” a user wrote on x/Twitter.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Billie Eilish subconsciously recreated their sweet moment from 2019

Both top-charting artists in their respective fields, Jennie and Eilish got silly like best friends and opened up about each other. When the conversation started about Billie’s new album, which is also her first full-length album in three years, she asked Jennie which song from her latest record was her favorite.

The Ode Atelier CEO, who recently made her official debut as a runway model for Jacquemus, revealed Birds of a Feather to be her favorite track on Hit Me Hard and Soft. The two were all smiles throughout the event, particularly enjoying each other’s company. Billie even thanked the Solo singer for holding down the fort and hosting him graciously. “I love you, Jenny. Thank you for doing this.”

The versatile K-pop idol warmly responded, “You will definitely interview me when my album comes out.”

On June 12, Spotify announced via news release that Billie Eilish’s South Korea album listening event would be held at Seoul’s Théâtre des Lumières. She held a similar immersive listening experience for her UK fans in May. Spotify explained what the event will include: “What can they expect? The event will provide a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Billie’s latest musical journey. Visitors will dive into Billie’s world through the album art – an image of the artist floating underwater beneath a white wooden door. As they go through Billie’s tracks, they will become even deeper immersed in the music.”

Amid promotions for her album in South Korea, Eilish is also set to make her Korean show debut on Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho’s You Quiz on the Block. There are also rumors of her possible appearance on Zico’s KBS2 talk show The Seasons.

In other Blackpink news, Lisa is all set to release her first comeback after launching her exclusive label LLOUD in late 2023. Titled Rockstar, her solo music release will take place on Thursday, June 27 at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT.
