Blake Lively subtly responded to backlash during It Ends With Us press tour with Instagram post
Blake Lively has responded to criticism during the press tour for her new film It Ends With Us. Blake Lively, 36, recently faced criticism for not focusing on the domestic violence theme of the film, which is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel of the same name. The Age of Adaline star shared a clip of her interview with BBC News on her Instagram Story, in which she discusses the nature of the character she plays in the film.

The Gossip Girl star has been in the news recently for her risqué appearance at press events. Known for her humorous sense of humor, Lively faced criticism when a compilation of her recent interviews went viral on social media. She has been accused of avoiding talking about the more sensitive aspects of the film and speaking in a light-hearted manner.
Following the recent backlash, Lively shared a BBC clip in which she talks about her role as Lily Bloom. “She’s not just a survivor, and she’s not just a victim, and while those are huge things, those are not her identity,” the Green Lantern actress said in an interview on Friday.
Lively added that Lily “isn’t defined by anything that anybody else did to her or something that happened to her, even if it was multiple events.” “She defines herself, and I think that’s very empowering. … Nobody can define you. No one experience can define you. You define yourself,” she added.
Lively’s beautiful floral-themed dress has also been the subject of controversy, with netizens claiming that the glamorous outfit falls in line with the Barbie trend that took social media by storm last year. Apart from the video clip, Lively also wrote a lengthy statement expressing her gratitude to those who came forward in support of the film.
“We’re celebrating this film and spreading an important message,” Lively wrote, adding, “Thank you all for embracing @itendswithusmovie with the same pain, love, and joy we felt sharing it with all of you.”
