Blake Lively is once again facing criticism for making insensitive comments in an old interview. In a 2014 clip, the 36-year-old actress claimed that pregnant women “lie” about their symptoms and are often “exploited.” She also jokingly called Extra reporter AJ Calloway an “idiot” for seemingly taking advantage of his then-pregnant wife.

Recently there was a controversial interview. Viral on TikTokThe meeting took place on the red carpet of the Angel Ball when Lively was pregnant with her first child, 9-year-old James. After a short meeting, Calloway asked the Gossip Girl star about her pregnancy journey, and explained how he would often massage his wife’s feet, as she was seven months pregnant at the time.
“How’s it going? My wife is seven months along now, so I know what it’s like, the foot rubs,” the 49-year-old said. In response to his question, the It Ends With Us actress said, “Oh, she’s just taking advantage.” When Calloway laughingly asked her to share her opinion on pregnancy symptoms, Lively said, “You can take advantage if you want. You can’t fall for that stuff.”
She further stated that pregnancy cravings are a “lie”, and added that “it’s the perfect way to get what you want all the time. Do you want chocolate ice cream at midnight? You have a craving!” However, Lively explained that when Calloway said, “You’re annoying pregnant women everywhere” she was “just joking.” At the end of the interview, when the entertainment reporter asked once again if Lively had any cravings, she simply shook her head.
Shortly after the video resurfaced on TikTok, netizens began criticizing the A Simple Favor star, calling her “pampered” and “privileged.” According to the NY Post, one person wrote, “I was working on my feet until I had my son. Yes they hurt, yes my husband rubbed them for me. I think she lives a pampered life whether she’s pregnant or not so her feet probably don’t hurt.”
Another user criticized Lively, saying, “She doesn’t give a shit about this pre-pregnant woman and my swollen feet. Also, some of us work 40+ hour days on our feet and don’t get to rest our whole pregnancy.” Meanwhile, a third user defended her, saying, “She’s being sarcastic!! This hate campaign is disgusting.”
