Pop star Katy Perry and five other women launched space on a blue origin rocket and successfully returned to Earth on Monday (April 14, 2025), marking the first all-poem spaceflight in more than 60 years.
The crew picked up from West Texas at ET (IST) at 9.31 am (7.01 am) and traveled on the edge of the space, where they experienced a brief period of weightlessness before returning to Earth in 11 minutes of flight, according to live broadcast by Blue Origin, the space company established by billionaire Jeff Bezos.
Spaceflight is a high-profile win for Sri Bezos’s new Shepard launch vehicle, developed for space tourism.
The six-person crew included Mr. Bezos’ fiancé Lauren Sanchez, CBS Host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Boway, scientist Amanda Guayen and filmmaker Karian Flynn.
Ms. King said that when the crew returned to its seats after weightlessness, Ms. Perry sang Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’.

“I think is associated with love,” Ms. Perry said after landing on Earth.
She was holding a Daisy flower, which she had taken into space to remind her daughter Daisy.
“Daisy is common flowers, but they grow under any circumstances … they are flexible. They are powerful. They are strong.”
It was the first time-female spaceflight since the Soviet Cosmonott Valentina Tereskova-the first woman in the interviews revolved around the Earth during the almost three-day single flight.
