‘Bolwa Vitathal’ celebrates the songs of Minstrales

Mumbai -based Pancham Nishad presents, Bolwa Vitathal, A concert series celebrates the Abhang and Worker Bhakti tradition in Bengaluru, which features Anand Bhit, Mugdha Vaishmpana and Pratamesh Laghet. He will be accompanied by Padya (tabla), pleasant Munde (Pakhwaz), Aditya OK (Harmonium), Shadj Godkhindi (flute) and Suryakant Survekshan (additional rhythm).

Bolava Vitathal Shashi is a brainchild of Vyas. “I belong to a family of musicians and felt ready to do something for the world of classical music and founded Pancham Nishad in 1996,” Shashi says, who is the son of veteran Hindustani singer and musician CR Vyas and brother of Vocalist Suhas Vyas and Santoor artist Satish Vyas.

Shashi began curing Bolwa Vitathal in 2006. The annual program has been organized in many cities across the country. The Bangalore segment of the 2025 edition will feature young and talented couples Mugdha and Prathamesh. Talking about the singers, Shashi says, “While Mugdha and Pratamesh are also in Daswani; Anand is a torch of the tradition. He was only 10 years old when he sang the songs of Balagandhrava (famous Marathi singer and stage actor). Anand also left his profession and undervent training as a software engineer.

According to Anand, “‘Bolava Vitathal’ is not just a concert; it is an emotional offering. When I sing the desires written by revered saints like Adneshwar, Tukaram, or Namdev, I think I am part of a centuries old conversation.”

Mugdha Vaishampayan, who is happy to be a part of this music journey, shared that she loves the energy that brings the audience in Bangalore to a concert with her appearance and praise. She says, “It seems special to be a part of a show dedicated to anxiety. It allows you to understand emotions in songs and reflect life and humanity,” she says. Kneived for her deep emotional relationship with Marathi poetry, Pratamesh said, “Singing is a great experience. These compositions are not only about Swar, Taal and La, they have a deep vision. There is a deep vision. There is nothing less than a blessing to get an opportunity to do a complete program on Abhinas.”
