Bombay HC to Watch Ajay: The Untold Story of a Yogi ‘Amid CBFC Censorship Ro

Mumbai: The upcoming film ‘Anjya: The Untold Story of a Yogi’ will be watched by the Bombay High Court, and will then decide on Monday on the reasons or objections raised for the rejection of the film transmitted by CBFC to the petitioner.

While hearing Ravi Kadam, Senior Advocate, Sustainable Anand and Nikhil Arade, advocates of the petitioner (Smart Cinematics) said that although an alternative measure (appeal) under Section 5-C of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 is available, however, it is not available, however, it is not an absolute bar on the practice of jurisdiction under Jurisitation.

The bench noticed that CBFC showed a rigorous approach to reject the certification application filed by the petitioner for authentication of its film. The bench said that the film would have to be seen to understand the context of objections and eventually agreed to watch the film.

The bench also said that the film is to be seen in its entirety according to the guidelines. The court on Monday reserved the decision on the decisions on the objections given by the revised committee, on the basis of which the petitioner’s film was denied certification.

Earlier, the Bombay High Court had directed CBFC to fix the release date of the film. The court allowed the petitioner prayer for screening of the film to complete the screening process as per the Cinematographs Act and rules and directed the petitioner to express his decision as per the rules by Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Emperor Cinematics, The Production House Behind ‘Anjya: The Untold Story of a Yogi’, said, ‘Today’s result confirms our faith in the judiciary. The film is an honest creative effort of more than 300 industries professionals, and we hope it will be allowed to reach the audience that was made for it.

The court also observed that the court has kept the petition pending for compliance with CBFC, seeing the wrong approach adopted earlier without following the proper process of CBFC’s conduct and law.
