Surprising fans, actor Sunny Deol introduced Varun Dhawan as an army battalion in the much-awaited war film ‘Border 2’.
Sunny shared an introduction video of Varun Dhawan on Instagram on Friday. She added a musical touch to the video with Sonu Nigam’s hit song ‘Sandese Aate Hain’.
Sharing the video, he wrote, “Welcome Fauji @varundvn to the #Border2 Battalion.”
Varun also shared his happiness on Instagram. He wrote, “I was a fourth class kid when I went to Chandan Cinema and watched Border. And it made a huge impact. I still remember the feeling of national pride we all felt in the hall. I started looking up to our armed forces and even today I salute them for how they protect us and keep us safe on our borders or during natural disasters.”
He said, “JP Dutta sir’s war epic remains one of my all-time favourite films. Playing a role in Border 2, produced by JP sir and Bhushan Kumar, is a very special moment in my career. And I get to work with my hero Sunny paaji, which makes it even more special. I am looking forward to bringing the story of a brave soldier to the screen in what promises to be India’s biggest war film. I look forward to your best wishes. Jai Hind.”
Recently, on the completion of 27 years of the cult classic ‘Border’, the makers gave a big surprise to the fans by announcing the sequel ‘Border 2’.
Sunny released an announcement video on Instagram.
In the video, he said, “27 years ago, a soldier promised that he would return. To fulfill that promise, to salute the soil of India, he is coming.” Promise that he will return. To fulfill that promise, to salute the soil of India, he is coming),” loosely translated.
Sharing the video, he wrote, “A soldier is coming again to fulfill his 27 year old promise. India’s biggest war film, #Border2. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, directed by Anurag Singh.”
Border 2 is written by Nidhi Dutta and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. It will be directed by Anurag Singh.
Reportedly, the story is based on the same backdrop as the Battle of Longewala and its shooting will begin in October this year.
‘Border 2’ presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series and JP Dutta’s JP Films is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta and the film will release on January 23, 2026.
‘Border’, released in 1997, is a story set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. This patriotic film featured actors Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty and Akshay Khanna in lead roles.
The film won millions of hearts not only for the storyline and the incredible acting of the actors but also for its beautiful musical score. The song ‘Sandese Aate Hain’ by Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam was a huge hit.
Meanwhile, after the phenomenal success of ‘Gadar 2’, Sunny is now all set to come up with Lahore 1947.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol.
This much awaited film produced by Aamir Khan will be released on Republic Day next year.
