FWICE urges Indian filmmakers to escape from Türkiye as a shooting space.

This appeal is based on Türkiye’s support for Pakistan against India’s interests.

Concern on national integrity and safety affects this recommendation.

Mumbai (Maharashtra):

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) appealed to Indian filmmakers to reconsider choosing Turkey as a shooting destination, citing Turkish support for Pakistan on matters affecting India’s national interests.

The top bodies representing 36 crafts of workers, technicians and artists in FWICE, Indian media and entertainment industry urge all Indian filmmakers to reconsider choosing Turkey as a shooting destination in light of their growing support towards Pakistan. This call is being taken on matters that are deeply concerned about India’s national interests, as according to the press release shared by FWICE.

Following the support of Türkiye to Pakistan in attacks against India, FWIC has followed its trust of “the nation first come”.

In view of the recent developments in support of Pakistan and the continuous situation in Turkey, which has expressed concern about national integrity and security, it is not in the best interest of the Indian film industry to invest or cooperate in any form that can indirectly support or benefit such a nation.

Turkish stance has been noted not only diplomatically but also in many international forums, where it has opposed India’s sovereign interests.

Türkiye’s attitude has been seen not only diplomatically but also in various international forums, where it has taken a position against India’s sovereign interests. As an inherent industry contained deeply in Indian soil and culture, we cannot be indifferent to the tasks that weaken the dignity or security of our country.

“Therefore we appeal to all production homes, line makers, actors, directors, and crew members as a place for the Indian film fraternity to stand in solidarity with the nation and as a place for the film shoot, as long as the country resumes its diplomatic stance and corresponds with the principles of mutual honor and non-conversion, according to the press release.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWIS), Ashok Dubey, has called for a complete ban on Pakistani artists from working in India. It comes after a deadly terrorist attack on 22 April 2025 in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
