Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the former lovebirds now embroiled in the ‘War of the Roses,’ are embroiled in a battle that is becoming even more intense. Although Pitt initially gained the upper hand in the French winery case, he has suffered personal setbacks as one by one, his shared children with Jolie are dropping his last name. Recently, Shiloh Pitt decided to drop Pitt from her name, a move that reportedly left her feeling ‘sad and broken.’ Now, reports suggest that Brad Pitt prevented his 14-year-old daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt from testifying in court about her living arrangement preferences.
Brad Pitt objects to Shiloh’s court testimony
Pitt and Jolie’s much-publicized breakup in 2016 has been a major legal battle. As a source close to the matter shared with US Weekly, Shiloh, who recently turned 18 and is in the process of legally removing Pitt’s name from her name, was one of his children who expressed interest in testifying in court in 2014, when she was just 14 years old.

Brangelina has six children, three of whom were adopted (Maddox, Pax and Zahara) and three are biological (Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox). The insider noted that Pitt initially prevented Shiloh from testifying in court, and the judge sided with Pitt by giving him shared custody. Still, another court agreed to Jolie’s request to change the judge, citing her failure to disclose her ties to Pitt’s legal group.
Brad Pitt’s relationship with Shiloh ‘changed over time’
Shiloh’s decision to change her name came shortly after another child, Vivienne, made a similar move on unofficial paperwork. “Brad Pitt is aware and saddened by Shiloh’s decision to drop her last name. He deeply cherished her birth and has always wanted a daughter,” a source told People at the time.
But now, a source close to Us Weekly claims that Shiloh, who was once very close to Brad’s family, has grown distant from them over time. The change in the relationship was clearly seen in May when it was reported that she had submitted the necessary paperwork to legally change her name when she turned eighteen. She asked to adopt her mother’s maiden surname in place of her father’s.

Why is Shiloh clearing Pitt’s name?
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s fairytale love story fell apart in a highly publicized way. It was hard to imagine how a couple who loved each other so much, who didn’t hesitate to buy multi-million dollar properties together, could fall so far apart. Then, the story slowly began to unravel. Angelina’s legal papers detailed a disturbing incident on a private jet, in which it was reported that Brad had physically assaulted her and their children. Brad’s representatives vehemently denied these allegations. Although Shiloh hasn’t revealed her reasons for dropping her father’s surname, it seems she may be siding with ‘Team Angelina.’
Legal experts say anyone at least 18 years old can apply to change their name; for minors, a parent can do so.
