The documents included an exhibit from an email where Angelina Jolie’s lawyers responded to Brad Pitt’s lawsuit, which reportedly involved millions in damages.
In a new twist in former couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s ongoing legal battle, FI: The Movie star has sued them over their shared Chateau Miravel winery. According to People, Brad’s legal team has submitted new documents to the court, including evidence communications from Jolie’s team regarding the 2021 sale of her stake in the winery, which is co-owned by the former couple.
The documents included exposure of an email from November 2023, where Angelina Jolie’s lawyers responded to Brad Pitt’s lawsuit, which reportedly involves millions in damages.
“The burdensome nature of any production is a matter of Mr. Pitt’s own creation — he is suing Ms. Jolie for $35 million in damages. As a result, he will have to bear the expense of preparing documents that will (or will not) show those damages,” his lawyers wrote at the time, as cited by People.
His team also noted that Brad sought “ongoing damages for alleged harm to Miraval’s ongoing operations.” He also cited that the actor consistently refused to produce documents to prove why he needed a four-year NDA to cover his personal misconduct.
Brad first filed the lawsuit in 2022, claiming that his ex-wife sold her share of the winery despite a prior agreement that no one would do so unless the other person approved.
Following Angelina’s recent claim of attorney-client privilege in refusing to provide the disputed documents, which Brad described as improperly withholding information, the ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ star doubled down on requesting 22 documents.
The next hearing of the case has been fixed for December 17.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have six children together – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox – separated in 2016 after 12 years together and two years of marriage. The Oscar-winning actors finalized their divorce in December 2024.
