Fraser said, “What I wanted to make never got done… but what I wanted to make is coming. And I’ve been waiting for this call for 20 years. Sometimes it was loud, sometimes it was lightly telegraphed. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want,” Fraser said.
Talks about a fourth film in The Mummy franchise were recently confirmed, with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette, best known for Radio Silence, set to direct.
Fraser joined the franchise in 1999, helping transform an old Universal monster into a full-scale action adventure. Universal tried a reboot with Tom Cruise about a decade later, although the plan never came to fruition.
Brendan Fraser opens up about memories on set
Fraser recently opened up about some of his most iconic films over the past few decades. When Entertainment Weekly dug up an old shot of George of the Jungle, the actor didn’t hesitate. The photo brought back the kind of memories you don’t plan for.
“I have a lot of memories of that time. I even remember being hungry,” she said, before laughing out loud at the image of herself with Leslie Mann and the Tuki Tuki bird.
The picture reminded him of the bird’s sharp claws. He paused at that for a moment. Then he went back to Maan. “I remember how funny Leslie was,” he said.
A new generation steps in
The second image brought him to a quiet place. This time, Sadie Sink was sitting next to him. In a soft voice, Fraser said, “Oh my God, that’s me and Sadie Sink. How lucky I was to work with an actress who was a young actress of her caliber, at such an early stage of her growing career.”
He remembered seeing him focus on scenes that you can’t train for. He recalled, “I had a front row seat to see this kid do really well… She was a baby then, now she’s a proper young lady. She’s brilliant.”

The actor further revealed that the scene was shot on a working train. “We had maybe, I don’t know, three or four stops and a camera crew on it,” he said. Additional facilities were available with regular riders.
Everything went fast. Fraser called it “a flurry of activity”, the kind of filmmaking that matched the tone of “Rental Family”.
He added, “It’s a love letter to loneliness and it’s addressed to Tokyo, nowhere and stamped on the Cherry Blossom issue.”
