Say “A Bridge to A No”, every old-timer in Chennai knows what you mean. Taking care of Adyar Estuary, it was not a half bridge when it was built in 1967, initially helped fishermen travel from Adyar to Srinivasapuram. This was to be their shortcut. However, nature was the last word in 1977. A part of it fell into the mouth due to a strong stream, never repaired again. This is not a puzzle, of course, a broken bridge.
Since then, the structure is more in stories than the function. Many chilling stories surround the bridge because its abandoned appearance and crime rate ran high; It is often afraid of the public and is also unwanted. Nevertheless, its great emptiness and familiarity of the past turned it into a shooting spot after a demand for many filmmakers. In particular, 1971 film Rickshaw Showed a song Kadaloram Wangia Katru Where Magar and Manjula dance on the full bridge. For an entire generation of millennium, this bridge is placed as a phase of iconic performance Ayya Ezuthu(2004), where Michael (Suriya) and Inba (Madhavan) become square against each other, a confrontation that increases in a dispute, all on that narrow strip of a bridge.
The bridge is a metaphor and has lent every story in films ranging from Newfound relationships to bitter clashes. For Uma Wangle, a filmmaker, film professor and Associate Dean, at the School of Media Sai University, Broken Bridge is like a symbol of broken ties, a bridge between the present and past. “In terms of visual appeal, this conflict is well built for the beginning and end. There are lots of narrative objectives for this bridge, it can be a breakdown or meeting point for either three different stories,” she says.
In many films, the Broken Bridge often makes a fleeting yet a memorable appearance. Sequence of songs like ‘Oh Sona’ In Wali (1999), Aru (2005), Yaya (2013) And others, the bridge appears for its beauty appeal and its image is now in the spirit of nostalgia.
Gets more symbolic in the bridge Chennai 600028 (2007), where the centuries-old trops follow: friends to enemies. In one of his scenes, Raghu (Jai) contacts Karthik (Shiva) and states that he needs to speak privately and find himself on a broken bridge. In the background, in a distance, Fisarfok proceeds with its work. Here, there is a feeling of stress because the characters have always been hostile to each other, which can grow in a quarrel in a throat, on all bridges, when a secret hostility shatters.

However, to reduce the traffic congestion, the GCC has taken steps to build a cable-sight bridge in Adyar, which connect Srinivasapuram and Urur Kuppam to replace the Broken Bridge. A private advisor was planted to design the concept. And yet, Broken Bridge has become immortal in a way through cinema.
